S7 Visit Golden Hill School

Golden Hill School Preston Centre

The pupils of Golden Hill Preston Centre have had a very busy term!

On 3rd October we had a visit from S7 Soccer Academy. Our Literacy and Numeracy lessons were fantastic as they were all football based. In the afternoon we had some professional football coaching!

The 7th November was our Charter Theatre visit to see a performance of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream coat. It was an enjoyable visit and the boys made all the staff very proud of them, three separate members of the public commented on how well behaved they all were.

The 14th November saw our second visit to Tower Wood. The children and staff enjoyed a day of sailing, climbing and action on the assault courses!  We can't wait for our next visit in February 2008.

The 26th November saw the start of Literacy week. This was based on the novel `A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens. The children and staff worked hard transforming the corridor into a Victorian Street, including Scrooge's office and the Cratchit's sitting room complete with fireplace and grandfather clock!  The boys produced some excellent literacy work including character descriptions of Scrooge and diary entries from Bob Cratchit. The grand finale came on 5th December when the school performed 'A Christmas Carol'. It was a huge success and the children played to a packed audience of friends and relatives.

As a reward for all their hard work and good behaviour the children were taken to Blackpool Tower Circus to watch the Christmas pantomime

'Cinderella'. Once again the boys'  behaviour was perfect!
